The Generic Pharmaceutical Association, a trade group representing generic pharmaceutical and biosimilar companies, has launched a national campaign, "Keeping Medicines in Reach”, to contain the cost of prescription medicines and has rebranded itself as the Association for Accessible Medicines (AAM).

AAM has elected Jeff Watson, president, Global Generics, Apotex, as AAM chairman, succeeding Heather Bresch, Mylan’s chief executive officer. The association has also elected Peter Goldschmidt, president, Sandoz US and head of North America, Sandoz, Inc. to be vice-chairman and Paul McGarty, president, Lupin Pharmaceuticals to be secretary-treasurer. The AAM board of directors will expand to include representatives from all AAM member companies.
