The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) has named Joaquin Duato as the new chairman of PhRMA’s board of directors. Mr. Duato is currently worldwide chairman, pharmaceuticals at Johnson & Johnson (J&J). Mr. Duato formerly held the position of chairman-elect of the PhRMA board and succeeds George Scangos, who has stepped down as chief executive officer of Biogen.
Mr. Duato has served as worldwide chairman, pharmaceuticals at J&J since January 2011. During his 28-year career at J&J, Mr. Duato has worked across the company’s pharmaceuticals and medical device business segments, held regional chairman roles, and led local market businesses in a variety of countries and regions.
